Fit Fix: Burger King Wants a "McWhopper," Kanye Claims a Michael Jackson Award, and It's National Dog Day

Burger King
"McWhopper" Truce
Today in fast food stunts, and other guy news.

Good morning, gents. Here's the latest in guy stuff for Wednesday, August 26:

The "McWhopper" Truce: Burger King invited McDonald's to #SettleTheBeef "in honor of #PeaceDay" by creating a mashup of the Big Mac and the Whopper called the "McWhopper." But the Golden Arches wants it their way, with CEO Steve Easterbrook saying they should "join in a meaningful global effort." There's still time to change your minds before International Peace Day on Sept. 21, you guys. [More at McWhopper.com]

Of All Time! Of All Time!: Kanye West will receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs, the network announced. We can't wait 'til T-Swift jumps onstage and says it shoulda been given to Beyoncé. [MTV]

It's #NationalDogDay: Celebrate a man's best friend by doing what you do best — running around and looking like a champ. Attaboy. [Men's Fitness]

Bad Move, Curt Schilling: The ESPN analyst tweeted, then deleted, a meme comparing Muslims to Nazis. ESPN condemned the tweet, and booted Schilling from covering the Little League World Series. So no Nazi talk on social media, okay guys? Okay! [SB Nation]

What (In) Your Beef?: Conventional (a.k.a. "non-organic") ground beef is twice as likely to contain drug-resistant bacteria than "sustainably raised" beef—some of which can't be removed by cooking it out—according to a new story from Consumer Reports. But the National Cattlemen's Beef Association insists that standard beef is just as safe as the stuff labeled "organic" or "sustainably raised," as long as it's cooked correctly.

Hope That's Insured: A 12-year-old Taiwanese schoolkid tripped and fell at a Leonardo da Vinci-themed art show in Taipei yesterday, tearing a hole "the size of a fist" in a 17th-century painting worth $1.5 million. He was probably too concentrated in listening to what the guide was saying, an organizer said. [CNN]
