Few guys love lower-body workouts. Because, well, they're hard. But it's hard not to love the results they provide.
So if you're smart, you do them anyway, since training your wheels helps you fill out your jeans, makes you more athletic, and turns you into a beast in the weight room, says B.J. Gaddour, C.S.C.S., Men's Health Fitness Director.
That's why today's circuit workout concentrates on just your lower body. You'll hammer your quads, hamstrings, and calves, and hit the smaller stabilizing muscles around your ankles, knees, and hips. It may not be the most fun you have today, but it might very well be the best thing you do. And with the circuit-style approach Gaddour uses, you'll be done in a flash.
(For an entire DVD program that will make you feel and look more athletic, check out The Anarchy Workout. One guy lost 18 pounds of pure fat in just 6 weeks!)
Watch Gaddour perform the workout in the video above, and see below for further directions. And then check out Circuit Week's Home Page for all of his daily routines.
How to do it
Perform the following 6 exercises in a row: calf raise, shin rase, sliding leg curl, goblet squat, single-arm alternating forward lunge, and single-arm side lunge.
For each movement, perform as many reps as possible in one minute, and then rest 15 seconds. For the side lunges, switch sides at the 30-second mark. Finish all 6 exercises to complete 1 circuit. Do 3 to 5 total circuits.
